Seeding by Flora Victoria

Many nature strips and verges at Middleton Field will host seeded wildflower meadows instead of water demanding lawn. Early this year, Flora Victoria started work onsite seeding the mix of grasses and annual and perennial wildflowers.

Landscaping at Middleton Field has been designed by Acre – a Collingwood-based firm taking a holistic approach to garden design.

Informed by Daylesford’s surrounding natural and urban environment, the planting at Middleton Field will include an undertone of notable Australian fauna and exotic species linking the new neighbourhood to its surrounds.

Promoting ecological resilience, most nature strips and verges at Middleton Field will host seeded wildflower meadows. This approach by Acre is a deliberate step towards breaking the norms in high maintenance, water demanding, monocultured lawns.

The mix of grasses and annual and perennial wildflowers will provide biodiversity, create habitat and food for pollinating insects and promote soil health and carbon sequestration throughout the neighbourhood.
